The irish for box is "bosca" and that things name is bosco. It lived in a box and came out every day to play with some grown-up mates. To this day nobody really knows its' sex, I always thought it was a boy.
I don't know why he's wearing a rain hat, he usually sports fetching red dreadlocks!

I can't believe it's autumn in two days. Not that there'll be a noticeable change in the weather because this has been the rainiest summer EVER!!! I'm going to Belfast this weekend to a mini day festival to see Snow Patrol, We Are Scientists and Ash amongst a few others. It's all Northern Irish bands (apart from W.A.S.). I can't wait, hopefully it'll be an eventful weekend and a blogworthy one too. I blog about a lot of rubbish though so the likelihood is that bad or good, you'll be hearing about this weekend.

In other non-news, listening to lots of Coldplay over the last few days. This always happens to me before I'm going to a concert, I listen to loads of music from a band who I won't be seeing! Can't wait for their new album. The fact that it's going to be influenced by Latin music kind of scares me, can't imagine Chris singing in Spanish, but it's Coldplay so I'm sure they'll make it work!

He's one of my favourite actors, he's hilarious and hot too. Obviously I don't know him but I always got the impression he's a happy lad. You never really know do you. I hope he's alright.

umbrella-ella-ella ey-ey-ey....

that song has been number one for about 10 weeks, i'd say rihanna is a very rich lady now. she even has her own range of umbrellas, madness. today is the first day since the start of june that i haven't seen a single drop of rain.

probably not for long... septembers are always wet.

As I said before I got my copy of Rilo Kileys new album last week. The reviews are not great. I really like a few tracks and really DON'T like a few of them. I love Jenny Lewis' voice though, I could listen to it for hours.
Finding suitable accommodation in Cork is proving quite difficult. Of the apartments we viewed the other day, there were certain qualities I'd take from each one, but nothing that really stood out. One really reminded me of the layout of a certain quayside apartment in a French city we all know and love.
If this doesn't work out, I think I'll be working for a few months here and prepare myself for Paris. When people ask me who I'm going there with and I reply 'myself', I get looks of shock, awe, admiration, fear....
I honestly don't feel any of those things, I'm excited for this adventure to begin. If it fails, then so be it, but I won't know until I try.
I can't wait, knowing that a good friend will be a few hours away rather than days away will also hope!

In other news, I was eating ice-cream in a restaurant the other night and there were shards of glass in it! I was crunching the chocolate chips when I realised it was something other than chocolate. Luckily my mouth wasn't cut and they took the price of the ice-cream off the bill. Next time I'm eating ice cream I'll be on the lookout for this kind of thing. I've eaten far too much of it this summer. In Greece I had about 3 a day, eventually my friend had to limit it because I was becoming obsessed with it. Right now I wouldn't say no to three boules of violet ice-cream from Regal Glace..... YUM!!!

One song that I've been listening to a lot is There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths. It's one of my top ten songs of all time...... Give it a listen if (shock horror) you haven't heard it in a while. Add Do You Realize - The Flaming Lips to that list.

And a bit of celebrity news: Apparently the reason Britney shaved her head is because K-Fed told her that if a drug test was done, traces of marijuana would be found... I want to love the girl, I really do, but she seems to be getting crazier every day. She's meant to be doing a "surprise" performance at the VMAs in two weeks, if this is the case I think it'll definitely make or break the rest of her career.
Lohan is going to jail for her (multiple) DUIs..... for one day. I'm sure that will really help. She's put out a statement acknowledging her addiction, at least she's admitting her faults (take not Britney/Paris..etc). Nicole Richie is already out of the slammer after her lengthy 82 minute sentence. I guess now that she's with child she can't drink for the next while anyway.
These people never seem to learn... but I love the gossip!

Acceptable in the 80's

The rain is unbelievable. I don't think it's ever rained so much, EVER. It's so depressing. I had brunch this morning in town and when I left it was LASHING. Luckily I'd brought an umbrella with me (force of habit lately) so it was grand.
I can't seem to shake this cold. I took some meds last night for it and had an early night, I thought I'd be okay but I can't breathe through my nose. I hate that.
Tonight will be a DVD night for me.

T.F.I.F.

Weekends kind of lose all meaning when you don't really have a schedule. I still love Fridays though. I've been having lots of nights in lately. When I go out I never know when to stop and suddenly it's 6am and I'm still not home, not good for the liver... or the mind. So a break is good. It also saves money which I need desperately at the moment. Going to Cork next week to view apartments. I want to find something cheap but nice, somewhere that will feel like home. Most of the places we're looking at are modern apartments but they look nice. I'd love an old apartment with high ceilings and large windows... I'll have to save that dream for Paris (a dream in itself I suppose). I'm also planning to take some french classes in the Alliance in Cork. There's only so much I can learn from watching Paris Je T'aime. I can feel a cold coming on, I've had the nasel voice all day and now I can't stop sneezing. It's the middle of August! I could really use an Indian Summer... Although the likelihood of that happening is slim to none. I think I'll have to take a lemsip to get rid of this cold.
For dinner I think I'd love a Greek Salad. I lived on them in Zakynthos. Here when you order one the Feta cheese is cubed and/or crumbled but in every salad I had in Greece (and I had alot) the cheese was placed on top of the vegetables in a block!
I bought Rilo Kileys new album, I want to like it but I haven't heard great things.

Unable to get tickets for the Dublin gig, I booked tickets to see Arcade Fire in London! They're playing on a Monday in the middle of November. Some shopping will definitely be done. I love London, haven't been in a while.

I didn't get Arcade Fire tickets. It sold out in like 5 minutes, not even. And there are already tickets up on ebay for €132!! Face value was €49.20! I'm so pissed off right now. They're so popular here it's ridiculous. I think I'll go and see them in London, flights are cheap and there's still tickets on sale (those english don't appreciate them as much as we do).

A wild cat had kittens in my garage and yesterday
I think she was teaching them how to walk and everything.
There are six and they are so tiny.
When I woke up this morning,
there was only one of them.
I think she must have moved them and
left him behind, he keeps meowing.
He's so small though so I don't
want to touch him, what should I do??

Their tails are SO cute!!!!

EDIT: The mum just came into the garden and put him in her mouth and they walked off into the sunset!

not that I'm complaining!

I had another dream about Arcade Fire. I was talking to Regine Chassagne about college and education systems around the world. Then we were talking about the lotto and we had a pile of about 50 (scratched) scratch cards, it was madness. I really wish I knew what these meant.

I was also driving in my dream in a really fast car. I think that's because this week I was doing a bit of driving down the country. I can change gears and break properly, I'm just scared about going out on the roads with other cars! It's really annoying because I won't have my own car (or access to a car) for a while. I'll be in cork until Christmas and then Paris in the new year. I don't think I'll ever have enough stamina/guts to drive in Paris, especially NOT around L'Arc De Triomphe!
